Return On Investment
This week, we talk about how much does social media cost and how we measure social media effect.
Obviously, social media is not a free way to do marketing. Because it cost time! But what else, people,equipment,energy and technology are all the normal cost. And also we can't forget the opportunity cost.
Return on investment which also can be called ROI stands for gain from investment reduced by cost of investment and than divided by cost of investment. It's a useful ratio to measure whether we should invest or not.
There are several ways to measure the ROI of social media.
1)Look at the page's click rate. We can find how many people saw our pages.
2)Check the number of fllowers, likes and retweets or reposts.
3)We can also google it. See the ranking of our company.
Because I am not a company ,for my self marketing，I will check out the numbers of followers in my twitter and facebook or renren to see whether I'm a good self marketing manager or not!

Twitter Chat
First, thanks for our teacher gave us a day off on Halloween. But we meet on twitter chat. It's really a new experience on social media using.
Twitter chat in a new way for a group of people to chat online. And it's really useful. especially when people can not chat face to face. But, In my eyes, it's not the best way for a group of people to discuss some special topic. Because everyone can see your twitter unless you reset it. And also it has word limit when posting every time. For these reason, I think QQ is better than twitter chat. We can come to chat in a private space--fictitious room. You can see what others said and type you own opinions without limit after you join the chat room. So, I like QQ more than twitter.

Case Study
This time, we learned some cases for social media and how companies use it to marketing themselves.
For our group, we need to figure out how companies marketing themselves on Facebook. They have several different ways to do that, such as pages, ads and groups. And these kind of ways all have advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, different company has different preference. There is no the most effective of them. It's all depends.
In this case, we learned a new concept-landing pages. It's the page your website visitors arrive at after clicking on a link. It could be your home page, or any other page in your site. There are many companies have"landing pages" on Facebook. After browsing them, we find Coach is the best one and Starbucks has more can to approve. If we were the pages maker, we'd like to add some pictures for Starbucks store in different country. Or take some pictures for the coffee bean land, and show how healthy our product is. What's more, we might post some beautiful stories on it, and update that. After that, people may come back to the pages.
From the case study, I've got a lot of inspiration about how to use social media. It's really help me a lot.

A new social media, a new adventure.
Twitter, a new friend of mine. Actually, I've thinking about who to follow for a long time. Because, I have to find whether they can help me to build my brand or not. Finally, I decided to follow CNN, UCR, globalvoices, US MissinCN and dajiyuan. Following these twitters will help me know what happened lately and give me more information about the world economic and technology.
